The Perfect Dress

I just got this dress in the mail and wasn't expecting to love it as much as I do. It fits like a glove and is the most flattering shape, I can see myself wearing it all summer and into the fall and winter with tights and boots. I ordered the black {wouldn't it look fabulous with the turquoise bubble necklace?} but I've been eyeing the other four colors, too. It's such a gorgeous, classic shape and at just the right price! {Also love the floral printed version}.

Summer Wardrobe Staples | Guest Post!

Today I have a special post -- Gaby from The Vault Files is sharing her summer wardrobe staples. Gaby has an amazing sense of style, an incredible blog, and is one of the sweetest people you'll talk to. If you aren't a current reader of her blog, you're missing out. Welcome, Gaby!

Hi everyone, Gaby from The Vault Files here excited to be on Natalie's blog today sharing some of my summer staples with all of you. I'm even more excited to be here this week, now that Natalie got a blog makeover, how exciting?

Below are some of my summer go-to pieces, hope you enjoy this peek into my closet ;)

A MINT DRESS
I bought this gorgeous dress while in Toronto earlier this year and I couldn't be happier I did so. The side pockets secretly make my heart flutter ;)

FLORALS
With so many great options right now, how could you resist adding some floral pieces to your closet?

NEON AND PASTEL
I'm really enjoying both brights and lights this season.

DENIM CUT-OFFS
Denim shorts are my go-to during the summer, they are just the easiest to pull off and so comfortable!

ANIMAL PRINT BELTS
A year round favorite, I couldn't live without them.

JEWELRY
These are a couple of my current favorites.

SHOES
Shoes wise, I think I couldn't live without my boat shoes, which I highly recommend, flat sandals and some leopard print. I also wear my black Toms a lot, same as my black studded sandals.

I hope you all enjoyed reading about my summer staples! For more inspiration you can check out my summer essentials posts here. Thanks so much Natalie for having me, this was fun!

Downtown Seattle + Bainbridge Island

You may noticed my blog got a major facelift! I'm in love with the new design and am so thankful to Amanda from Lust Luxe Love, who did an amazing job putting everything together. Everything's easier to navigate, the pictures are bigger, and everything looks a little cleaner. Thanks, Amanda!

This weekend was so fun. It was a little adjustment moving to Seattle from NYC, but we're loving it so far. We're excited to call it our home for the next ten weeks!

On Saturday we explored downtown and enjoyed a nice long walk by the water. It rained all morning but cleared up into the most beautiful, clear evening.
On Sunday we took a ferry to Bainbridge Island and explored the local shops and restaurants. It was the cutest island -- we'll definitely be back to do some more exploring.

How was your weekend?

+ This art is the sweetest and needs to be framed somewhere in our apartment.

Three Summer Beauty Products

Three products I've been using non-stop this summer:

ONE Kerastase Oleo-Relax Serum | This stuff is liquid gold. I love all Kerastase products that I've tried and this one is no exception. This is great especially on those hot, humid days -- it keeps my hair smooth and frizz-free. Definitely worth the price.
TWO Mac Eyeshadow in Blanc Type | I read about this eyeshadow a long time ago and have had it on my list of things to try. I finally bought it and love it. It looks really white in the container, but it goes on as a really pretty neutral. It's really natural and helps to avoid those greasy summer-time lids.
THREE Benefit That Gal Brightening Face Primer | I was never really a primer girl, but I've really liked this. It's perfect underneath makeup or on it's own and it adds a really pretty summer glow that I love.

What are your go-to summer beauty products?

More of my favorites here.

The Oxford

What are your thoughts on oxford shoes? I was super hesitant at first because they reminded me too much of this, but they've started growing on me.

A Few Leftovers

A few more New York pictures that didn't make it into a post:

Shake Shack {which reminded us of our beloved In-N-Out}, the roof of the Empire State Building, and the Met to see the Prada exhibit.

We miss New York but are loving all the space and the fresh air in Seattle! We're excited to call it home for the next eleven weeks. More later...

Weekend

Happy weekend! We're flying out to Seattle tomorrow -- definitely a bittersweet feeling.
We've loved living in New York and we will miss it a lot. I think New York is my favorite city that I've lived in so far -- I've met some incredible people and had some amazing experiences that I'll remember for the rest of my life. But, I know exciting things await in Seattle, too!

Some links for your weekend:

+ And in case you missed them, I guest posted on three lovely blogs this week: Alison's, Eileen's, and Julia's.

Have a fabulous weekend!

Work Space

Though I love all of the travel and experiencing new cities we've been able to do, a piece of me is excited to be in a place for a longer period of time -- somewhere more permanent where we can paint and wallpaper and feel like it's our home for a long, long time. Hopefully by this time next year we'll be settled and I'll be able to put some of my decorating ideas into practice. I'll be starting a series on the blog of inspiration boards of different rooms in the house. Hopefully it's inspiring, and it's a way for me to organize my decorating ideas, too! First up is the work space.

Moss Growth IV {$40} | Malibu mid-back white vinyl office chair {$199} | Diptyque Baies candle {$60} | Clear magazine file {$14.99} | X-Leg desk {$549} | Peabody desk lamp {$379} | Design Darling Traditional mini-vase {$16} | Gold leafed onyx bookends {$67
Beige & gold hide rug {$650}

I love light and bright in a work space, it makes me feel more creative and organized. What's in your dream work space?

Also: I'm so excited to be guest posting on two of my favorite blogs today! I'm participating in Eileen's Everyday Series {such a cute series!} here! And, I'm over on The Urban Slant with a beach weekend packing list. Be sure to stop by these two lovely ladies' blogs!

Zara Asymmetrical Court Shoe Twin

I've gotten a couple emails about the Zara asymmetrical court shoe I posted about here. They've been seen on tons of fashion bloggers, during many fashion weeks, and as they've gotten more rare they are selling on eBay for $500+! I came across these alternatives by Alice + Olivia. They have such a similar shape and have gotten great reviews on the site, these would be a great alternative if you're still on the hunt for the original Zara version.

P.S. I'm over on {long distance loving} guest posting today! Be sure to pop over and say hello!

Four from the Weekend

01. My first ever romper! I was so hesitant about them at first but I love this one.
02. Saturday was my mom's birthday so we surprised her by taking the train from New York to Annapolis to visit my family. The trip was too short, but it was so good spending time with my family and celebrating with everyone.
03. A perk of going home -- seeing my sweet niece, June. She can now balance cereal puffs on her nose. So talented.
04. My sister-in-law's amazing DIY painted chest. You can read more about it here

This is our last week in New York -- we'll be flying out to Seattle next week to live for the remainder of the summer. It's so bittersweet, I don't think I'm ready to leave this city!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Classic Summer Dresses

I've never been a huge dress girl. I've always preferred shorts or skirts in the summertime, but these images make me want to re-think. I love the timeless shapes and neutral colors, definitely something worth investing in. Are you a dress girl? What are your go-to styles?
